What are the FFA and the South Coast Region?

Founded in 1928, the National FFA Organization is a youth leadership organization for high school students. It educates its members about agriculture and helps prepare them for careers in any field. The National FFA Organization is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. “Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve” is the motto that FFA members live by. With more than 500,000 members participating in any of the 7,429 chapters in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands, the FFA the largest youth organization in the nation.

The FFA is broken up into levels. At the top is the National FFA, then State Associations, in California, Regions, Sections, and Chapters. The South Coast Region is a portion of the California Association FFA and contains over thirty chapters, divided up into six sections: Santa Clara, Monterey Bay, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Los Angeles Sections. The region begins in Santa Clara County and stretches down to Los Angeles County. Every year eleven officers are elected to put on conferences and events for the members as well as help lead them into excellence.
