Nicole Paulden is this year's South Valley sectional secretary. She is a junior at Bakersfield High School. Her SAE project, is raising a Gelbvieh market steer and a registered Gelbvieh heifer that will be breed after the Kern County Fair.

 

Treasurer - Kayla Calciano

Bakersfield-Liberty

 

 

Kayla Calciano is 17 and going to be a Senior at Liberty High School.  She is active in FFA and church and other school clubs. Currently she holds the office of Treasurer of South Valley FFA Section and President of Liberty FFA chapter. Her current SAE's are a market lamb and steer which she will be showing at the Kern County Fair this year. Her lamb is a Suffolk and her steer is a Shorthorn.

 

Reporter- Maritza Ruelas

Wasco

 

 

Maritza Ruelas is from Wasco High School. She currently holds the office of the South Valley Sectional Reporter. Her SAE involves a Duroc Barrow. She will enter it in the Kern County Fair in the Showmanship, Market, and Barrow Show. At this time of year he weighs 161 pounds, and he still has a lot to grow. Her interests are FFA, soccer or any type of sports, family and school.

 

Sentinel - Chelsea Morris

Bakersfield-Frontier

 

 

Chelsea Morris is a Junior at Frontier High School.  This year she will be serving as the South Valley Sentinel and holds an Executive Chapter Officer Position at Frontier.  Her SAE's include Market Steer, Market Goat, Breeding Beef and Bio-Diesel Production.  Her placement project is a part-time job at the Valley Feed and Supply store in Bakersfield.  For her Bio-diesel project she takes raw oil from a Chinese Restaurant, and boils it to delude it and blend in metholoxide (methanol and plumbers lye).  Lye acts as a catalyst for the product.  She boils and mixes for about half an hour, then lets it sit.  The Glycerin separates and drains and then she transfers the newly made gas into her truck and that complete the process of Bio-diesel.
